Cilantro Jalapeño Chipotle Hummus


There’s no such thing as too spicy right? This hummus has quite a kick and comes together in about 5 minutes. It is really a flavor experience because the first thing you taste is the coolness of the cilantro, and the green-ness of the raw jalapeño. But then the smoky warm chipotle flavor comes through at the end with some heat! Call me crazy but I think this would be good with cinnamon pita chips.


Cilantro Jalapeño Chipotle Hummus

Makes about 1.5 cups

1 can chickpeas, rinsed

1 cup tahini

Juice of 1 lemon

3 cloves garlic

1 handful cilantro, destemmed (about 1/2 cup or half a bunch)

1 large jalapeño, destemmed

1 tsp chipotle powder

Salt to taste


Throw everything in the blender and blend until smooth, about 4 minutes. Garnish with a cilantro leaf and a pinch of chipotle powder. Tastes even better the next day.
